As part of the Vigyan Jyoti Programme – Empowering Girls in STEM Education (Phase 5), an interactive Role Model Session was held at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Tuinom, Churachandpur, on November 20, 2024. The event was organized under the banner of Sri Sri School of Yoga in collaboration with IBM and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, aimed at motivating and empowering young students — particularly girls — to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).The interactive session was led by Dr. Chinkholal Thangsing, Commander, Royal Order of Sahametrei (Cambodia) and Founder-President, The Touch of Hope Foundation and Lamka: City of Hope. With over 35 years of experience as a physician and public health specialist, Dr. Thangsing shared his inspiring journey across clinical medicine, international health leadership, and humanitarian service. In his address, Dr. Thangsing encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, compassion, and courage, emphasizing that true leadership is not about position but purpose. He highlighted how science and education can transform lives, especially when guided by values and community spirit.
Drawing from his own experience in global health and development, he urged students to dream boldly, persevere through challenges, and serve others with integrity and hope. More than 700 students participated in the session with enthusiasm, engaging in meaningful discussions and asking thought-provoking questions about education, healthcare, innovation, and leadership. The interaction provided students with valuable insights into the power of education as a tool for change, especially in regions striving for peace and progress. The event concluded with a message of empowerment, resilience, and hope — reminding students that they are the architects of a brighter and more inclusive future.
