Goodwill Delegation Team visited the Lamka: City of Hope leadership team at the Secretariat

March 11, 2025

On 11 March 2025, the Goodwill Delegation Team led by Shri Surinder G and Ms. Elizabeth Matthews Nongbri, Dr. Robin Paomei Heni along with their associates, visited the Lamka: City of Hope leadership team at the Secretariat, Little Woods. The visit was part of the delegation’s broader mission to explore avenues of assistance, relief, and reconciliation for communities affected by the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur.

A long and constructive discussion was held, focusing on practical ways to advance peace, harmony, and rehabilitation in the region. The Lamka City of Hope leadership presented a comprehensive set of strategic recommendations addressing both immediate humanitarian needs and long-term recovery. These included enhancing humanitarian relief through sustained access to food, shelter, and healthcare; promoting livelihood and skill development programs for displaced families; ensuring education continuity for students through scholarships and mentorship initiatives; and fostering community healing through peacebuilding dialogues, youth exchanges, and cultural engagement. Emphasis was also placed on infrastructure and housing rehabilitation in the Kuki-Zo dominated areas, alongside expanding mobile medical services and mental health support to help communities recover from trauma.

Both teams underscored the importance of collaboration, partnership, and advocacy among civil society groups, faith-based organizations, and international partners to strengthen efforts toward inclusive development and lasting peace. The meeting concluded on a note of hope and shared commitment, with the Goodwill Delegation expressing deep appreciation for Lamka City of Hope’s visionary leadership and community-driven mission to rebuild lives, restore trust, and rekindle the spirit of unity across Manipur.
